Well, I got a new car! It's a nice little Honda FIT, and I love it. Great gas mileage too, which with my commute is a huge bonus. I get between 38 and 45 mpg...depending on if there is a semi-truck I can follow or not, haha.
At the workshop in Tennessee (you may remember me talking about it) we talked a lot about setting up paintings: subject, lighting, photos, content, etc. Casey Baugh had a good point about learning from professional photographers to get a better feel on setting up your own portraits. He himself went to a magazine shoot for a day and took notes. Just recently I found an awesome photographer only a few hours away from where I live, and I've set up a day to go and shadow him during a couple shoots. I've always had a hard time directing models and being able to set up a good shot...usually I keep clicking and hope for a happy accident.
Not a good way to do things. It's stressful for me and the models, and I get a lot of crap shots and a couple okay shots. So I'm really excited for this opportunity! I'm sure I'll learn a lot, he's been professional for 34 years. Be sure to check it out: [link]
Hopefully I'll be able to set up a few shoots of my own (I know of a few people I want to work with) and I'll have some much better paintings this summer....if I ever have time to paint! Lol. Corporate work really sucks the life out of ya. ^^
